On March 29, 2017, Julie Fay participated in the Nutmeg Group’s Risk Management Forum in collaboration with Fred C. Church and United Educators on the topic of legal issues surrounding student health for independent schools. The presentation included a discussion of the ADA, consent and confidential communications and the intersection of HIPAA and state law governing the disclosure of information related to minors. Her presentation concluded with recommendations for best practices with respect to accommodating students with medical needs, consent to treat forms, and policies.
