Public charter schools face unique challenges in serving students with disabilities. Please join us on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 as Shipman & Goodwin’s School Law Practice Group members provide charter school administrators and special educators with a primer on special education, including a discussion of the rights of students with disabilities under federal and state law, discipline of students, and best practices for implementing student Individualized Education Plans (“IEPs”) and Section 504 Plans.

Workshop topics will include:

  • Overview of special education laws, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Connecticut’s special education regulations
  • Overview of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Discipline of students with disabilities
  • Best practices for implementation of IEPs and Section 504 Plans

Each participant is invited to bring a guest(s) to the workshop. When registering, please register your guest(s) as well.
