In this workshop, we will discuss Public Act 12-116, “An Act Concerning Educational Reform,” and other laws affecting education that were passed during the last legislative session. We will review the impact that these changes will have on local and regional boards of education.

It is important for school districts to understand what has changed, and also to understand how much has stayed the same. This workshop will clarify the provisions of the highly publicized and much debated education reform bill.

The discussion will focus on the following topics:

  • Changes applicable to local and state charter schools;
  • Professional development for renewal of teacher certifications;
  • Teacher evaluations; and
  • Teacher tenure.
