This month Shipman & Goodwin School Law attorneys will be presenting two complimentary seminars discussing “hot topics” in special education. The presentations focus on special education topics of interest this past year and include a review of recent guidelines from the State Department of Education (SDE) on technical edits to IEPs, SLD-Dyslexia, and disclosure of records to out-of-district placements. There will also be discussion of new guidance on Independent Education Evaluations (IEE), as well as recent case law on bullying and FAPE issues. School Law attorneys will provide an update on the M.O.R.E. Commission’s special education recommendations and discuss topics of interest, including non-attending students, residential placements and transition services. Significant hearing and judicial decisions will be reviewed and discussed.
