With the recent amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act, employers are increasingly responsible for maintaining a workplace that is inclusive and adaptive for employees. An important part of this process is understanding the needs of employees and communicating effectively. This program will focus on one segment of our diverse workforce: the deaf and hard of hearing. Representatives from the American School for the Deaf will explore cross-cultural communication between the hearing and Deaf communities, explain sub-cultures within the Deaf community, and identify potential areas of miscommunication and misunderstanding of this community. Jeff Bravin, Director of Special Projects will serve as a speaker.
