The Federal Trade Commission recently published Net Cetera: Chatting with Kids About Being Online, a publication that gives adults practical tips to help kids navigate the online world. The guide suggests certain ways that parents can reduce the risks children can face when socializing and communicating online. Among other things, this publication provides advice on how both children and adults can avoid “phishing” scams; steps to take if a child becomes a victim of cyber-bullying; and how adults can talk to kids about socializing online.
